This baked feta dip is the appetizer that clears out before anything else on the table every single time. A creamy base of cream cheese, Greek yogurt, mozzarella, and pepperoncini spread into a baking dish, topped with crumbled feta, and then covered with cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, garlic, and fresh parsley all tossed in olive oil. It goes into a 425°F oven for about 40 minutes and comes out bubbling and golden with blistered tomatoes and softened garlic pooling into the cheese underneath. Serve with crusty bread or crackers and a drizzle of honey over the top and watch it go in about five minutes.

Why You’ll Love Baked Feta Dip

  • One baking dish handles the whole thing from assembly to serving. No stovetop, no multiple pans, minimal cleanup.
  • The combination of cream cheese and Greek yogurt in the base produces a richer, creamier result than feta alone and means the dip stays scoopable rather than becoming too dense or crumbly as it bakes.
  • The cherry tomatoes burst during baking and release their juices into the cheese underneath creating a natural sauce that makes every bite more flavorful and more interesting.
  • This works for a dinner party appetizer, a game day spread, or a casual weeknight snack situation and looks significantly more impressive than the effort involved.

What You Need To Make Baked Feta Dip

The Dip Base

Softened or whipped cream cheese is the rich, creamy foundation. Greek yogurt adds a slight tang and lightens the base so it stays scoopable rather than dense. Shredded mozzarella melts into the base and adds a stretchy, gooey element. Sliced pepperoncini add a briny, tangy depth throughout. Oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper season everything. Crumbled feta layered over the top adds the bold, salty, slightly sharp flavor the whole dip is built around.

The Tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes burst and soften during the bake and release their juices into the cheese. Mini sweet peppers or a red bell pepper add sweetness and color. Roughly chopped garlic roasts in the oil and becomes soft and mellow. Olive oil coats everything and helps the tomatoes blister. Fresh parsley adds a bright herby finish both in the dish and as a garnish.

What crackers or bread work best for dipping?

Sturdy crackers that won’t break under a heavy scoop of warm dip work best. Pita chips, crostini, and thick crackers like water crackers or seed crackers all hold up well. A baguette sliced thin and toasted is specifically excellent. Avoid very thin or delicate crackers that will snap under the weight of the dip and the tomatoes.

How to Make Baked Feta Dip

Step 1: Make the Base

Preheat the oven to 425°F. Mix the cream cheese, Greek yogurt, mozzarella, pepperoncini, and seasonings until combined. Spread evenly into an 8×8-inch baking dish. Top with an even layer of crumbled feta.

Step 2: Prep the Tomatoes

Toss the cherry tomatoes, sliced peppers, garlic, olive oil, and seasonings in a bowl until evenly coated. Pour over the feta layer. Sprinkle parsley over the top.

Step 3: Bake

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the tomatoes have burst and softened, the edges are bubbling, and the top is lightly golden.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

Drizzle with honey if using and scatter fresh parsley over the top. Serve immediately with crackers or crusty bread.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes. Assemble the entire dish through the parsley sprinkle, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Bake directly from the refrigerator adding 5 to 8 extra minutes to the bake time since it’s starting cold. The tomatoes may release a little more liquid than a freshly assembled dish so drain any excess liquid before serving if needed.

Storing and Reheating

Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven covered with foil for 15 minutes until warmed through. The dip firms up as it cools and loosens back up with the heat of the oven. Add fresh parsley and a new drizzle of honey after reheating.

How to Serve Baked Feta Dip

Serve directly from the baking dish while still hot and bubbling with thick slices of crusty bread or sturdy crackers alongside for scooping. The honey drizzle over the hot dip right before serving is the finishing touch that makes this look as good as it tastes.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Make it spicier: add an extra 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the base and swap the sweet peppers for sliced jalapeños in the tomato layer for heat throughout every scoop.
  • Make it Greek-style: add sliced Kalamata olives, diced cucumber, and a handful of fresh dill over the top after baking for a more traditionally Greek flavor profile.
  • Make it sun-dried tomato: replace the fresh cherry tomatoes with 1/2 cup of oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes for a more concentrated, intensely flavored topping that works especially well in the winter months when fresh tomatoes aren’t at their best.
  • Make it spinach artichoke style: fold 1/2 cup of thawed frozen spinach squeezed completely dry and 1/2 cup of chopped artichoke hearts into the cream cheese base before spreading for a spinach artichoke feta hybrid that is genuinely excellent.
  • Make it roasted garlic: roast a full head of garlic in olive oil before assembling and squeeze the soft cloves into the cream cheese base for a sweeter, more mellow garlic flavor that runs through the entire dip.
  • Make it without pepperoncini: swap the pepperoncini for sliced banana peppers for a milder, slightly sweeter tang or simply omit them entirely for a more straightforward baked feta without the briny element.
  • Make it a meal: serve over cooked orzo or with warm pita and a simple cucumber tomato salad alongside to turn this appetizer into a full Mediterranean-inspired dinner.

Ingredients

The Dip Base

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened or whipped
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella shredded
  • 1/2 cup pepperoncini sliced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 8 oz feta cheese crumbled

The Tomatoes

  • 10 oz cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cup mini sweet peppers sliced, about 6 or 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves roughly chopped
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, plus more for garnish

For Serving

  • Honey optional
  • Crackers or crusty bread

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  • In a bowl combine the cream cheese, Greek yogurt, mozzarella, pepperoncini, and seasonings. Mix until well combined. Spread evenly into an 8×8-inch baking dish. Top with an even layer of crumbled feta.
  • In a separate bowl toss the cherry tomatoes, sliced peppers, garlic, olive oil, and seasonings until everything is evenly coated. Pour over the dip in the baking dish. Sprinkle parsley over the top. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the tomatoes have burst and softened, the edges of the dip are bubbling, and the top is lightly golden.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and a drizzle of honey if desired. Serve warm with crackers or crusty bread.

Notes

  • Whipped cream cheese is easier to spread evenly into the baking dish than block cream cheese that hasn’t softened fully. If using block cream cheese let it sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before mixing.
  • Don’t skip the honey drizzle at the end. It sounds like an unusual addition but the sweetness against the salty feta and tangy pepperoncini is genuinely one of the best bites.
  • This dip is best served immediately while the cheese is still hot and bubbly and the tomatoes are just out of the oven. It can be made ahead and reheated in a 350°F oven for 15 minutes but fresh out of the oven is the ideal.
  • Use a shallow baking dish rather than a deep one so the tomatoes and peppers have direct contact with the heat and blister properly rather than steaming.
