Ingredients

Baked French Fries

  • 2 russet potatoes or substitute frozen fries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fry seasoning or salt & pepper

Burger

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Steak seasoning or salt & pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese of choice

Special Sauce

  • ¼ cup mayo
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sweet relish optional

For assembling

  • Chopped lettuce
  • Pickles
  • Onions
  • Tomatoes
  • Jalapeños
  • Avocado

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper if desired for easier cleanup.
  • Prepare the fries: Wash and scrub the potatoes, then peel off some of the skin if preferred. Slice into 1/4-inch thick sticks to create a fry shape. For extra crispy fries, place them in a bowl of ice water with a generous pinch of salt and let them soak while you prep the rest of the ingredients. When ready to cook, drain and dry thoroughly with paper towels—this step is key for crispiness.
  • Bake the fries: Spread the potatoes evenly on the sheet pan, making sure they’re not overcrowded. Toss with olive oil and seasoning, then bake for 20 minutes. Flip or toss the fries, then return to the oven for another 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy to your liking.
  • Cook the beef: While the fries are baking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles, until fully browned. Drain any excess grease if needed, then add steak seasoning (or salt and pepper) and stir to combine. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top, cover with a lid, and turn off the heat. Let it sit for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.
  • Make the special sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayo, ketchup, mustard, and relish (if using). Stir until smooth and well combined.
  • Assemble the bowls: Start with a base of chopped lettuce, then add a layer of crispy fries and the cheesy ground beef. Top with your favorite toppings like pickles, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, and avocado. Drizzle generously with the special sauce and serve immediately.
